Life is a journey and journeys have certain elements to them - time, place, people, events, experiences and so forth. There are points on life's journey that are significant. These points could be certain experiences or interactions with others. I like to think of my journey as being one of learning and of loving - in the 'agape' sense of the word. The many different pathways of my journey have been varied, exciting, interesting and sometimes downright scary and often the places where I have learned the most have been the difficult dark ones.
All of our individual journeys may have such places of learning, about ourselves, others and so forth, and I determine these as stepping stones and waymarkers. We all encounter stepping stones - some are easy to use and take us where we want to go. Others are needed to protect us from stormy times and lead us safely. Some stepping stones are just too dangerous to attempt and we need to be able to discern this. Waymarkers both mark and guide. Waymarkers are points where accomplishments have been made and understandings created. Waymarkers point on to the next set of stepping stones.
Alongside me on my journey are the wonderful people in my life: my family, my friends, and my colleagues. There are wonderful places in my life too, and there is my Christianity and the richness that it brings. This creates my 'map of life'. How's yours?
Does my blog match up to the great expectation of deep thinking thus portrayed? Probably not - I only pretend to be intelligent. Join me regardless.. and see if my journey can enrich yours!
